Effect of plasma and/or yeast extract on performance and intestinal morphology of piglets from 7 to 63 days of age R. Bras. Zootec.
Rigueira,Leandro César Milagres; Thomaz,Maria Cristina; Rigueira,Dalton César Milagres; Pascoal,Leonardo Augusto Fonseca; Amorim,Alessandro Borges; Budiño,Fábio Enrique Lemos.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of diets supplemented with plasma and/or yeast extract on performance (daily weight gain [DWG], daily feed intake [DFI] and feed conversion [FC]) and intestinal morphology of piglets from 7 to 63 days of age. A total of 288 piglets aged 7 days and weighing 2.57±0.05 kg were studied. A randomized block design consisting of four experimental diets, six repetitions and 12 piglets per experimental unit was adopted. The pre-starter I (7 to 21 days), pre-starter II (22 to 35 days) and starter I (36 to 49 days) diets were supplemented as follows: control diet (CD): no plasma or yeast extract; plasma (PL) diet: addition of 6%, 4% and 2% plasma; yeast extract (YE) diet: addition of 6%, 4% and 2% yeast extract;...

Effect of probiotic and prebiotic inclusion in weaned piglet diets on structure and ultra-structure of small intestine BABT
Budiño,Fábio Enrique Lemos; Thomaz,Maria Cristina; Kronka,Rodolfo Nascimento; Nakaghi,Laura Satiko Okada; Tucci,Fernanda Marcussi; Fraga,Alessandro Luís; Scandolera,Antônio João; Huaynate,Rizal Alcides Robles.
Forty-four piglets weaned were distributed in a complete randomized blocks in factorial scheme. Experimental diets were: T1 = Basal Diet (BD); T2 = BD + Antibiotic; T3 = BD + Probiotic; T4 = BD + Prebiotic; T5 = BD + Symbiotic (T3+T4). As control, four piglets were slaughtered at weaning. Seven and 14 days after weaning, four animals per treatment were slaughtered. Small intestine segments were sampled from each animal for electron and light microscopy evaluation. The evaluated micro-ingredients affected intestinal histology. It was observed higher villous density in duodenum of piglets fed diet with prebiotic in relation to those fed diets with probiotic. In jejunum of piglets fed diets with prebiotic was found higher villous density, but this difference...

Influence of delayed placement and dietary lysine levels on small intestine morphometrics and performance of broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Franco,JRG; Murakami,AE; Natali,MRM; Garcia,ERM; Furlan,AC.
This experiment studied the influence of delayed placement (HI) and digestible lysine level (DL) on the morphometrics of the intestinal mucosa and on the performance of broilers. A total number of 1,705 Cobb 500 male chicks were used in a completely randomized experimental design in a factorial arrangement with four HI (12, 24, 36 and 48h), and two DL level in the starter diet (1.143 and 1.267%), with four replicates and 55 birds per experimental unit. The amino acids methionine-cystine, threonine, and tryptophan were balanced according to the ideal protein (IP) concept. Small intestine morphometrics was evaluated using histology slides of the duodenum and jejunum. There was no interaction between HI and DL levels for any of the studied parameters. The...
